Students are invited into NJHS based on the high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, citizenship and character. We are proud to announce our new 2019 NJHS members: Trinity Baker, Julia Chamberlain, Piper Keller, Alexis Bell, Kailey Ojeda, Karlyn Betancur, Michael Gonzalez, Tara Lester, Gabriella Rolocut, Addison Schill, Amelie Stacy, Julia Tagarao, and Ty Voorhies. If you do not have a 60th year celebration St. Mary School Spirit Day shirt, there are a limited amount of shirts for purchase in the office! Our next Spirit Day will be February 21. The SMS Annual WALKATHON will be this Friday, February 15! All students who turn in $50 or more in pledges will be eligible for drawings to win great prizes weekly! We have had two drawings for family movie passes, family dinner passes, great stuffed animals and mystery box prize! Our last drawings will be during the Walkathon where two lucky winners will receive St. Mary Fair Megabands, one winner will win a flying drone, and more! The winning class will have a pizza party and the second place class will have an ice cream party! Right now, Mrs. Berthiaume’s Kindergarten is in first place and Mrs. Alexis’ St. Anthony team is in second place. The teachers will once again participate in the Annual Teacher Challenge! Students have pledged over $6,000, and we need your help to reach our goal of $10,000 by sending in your pledges this week. Please email Coach Olson golson@stmarys-school.org for more information. The Dedication Ceremony for our new Shadeport and Pavilion on our playground will take place on May 8 at 10:30am. We will have the honor of having Valerie Thompson from the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. MacFarland, the Dermatologist who funded the $8,000 grant to subsidize this project, will also be here as we unveil the new shaded areas for our students! We are very excited about this project and grateful for all of our donors who made this possible. All donors will be invited to attend this dedication. Parents and other community members will also be invited. Thank you to Diane Braswell who secured the grant that enabled us to build these shaded areas for our students! Accreditation Visit coming for our school! St. Mary Catholic School is a member of the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC) which is our accrediting agency. All Catholic Schools must go through a year long accreditation process every seven years, and we have been working on our accreditation for the past year. Our school accreditation visit has been scheduled for April 4 and 5, 2019. More information will be sent out as we get closer to our visit.
