*STORM DISMISSAL PROCEDURES*
*In the case of thunder storms and lightning, students will not be dismissed from the classrooms until the danger has passed. The school reserves the right to hold up the car line until the storms pass and it is safe for children to walk to their cars.*
Please know that the safety of the children and the faculty/staff are of primary importance during thunderstorms where lightning has been noted. I watch the weather in the office AND I have two lightning alert apps on my phone that notify me when lightning is found within 10 miles of St. Mary School. Whenever there is thunder, there is lightning, even if we do not see it up close and personal. If this happens, the teachers will keep the kids in their classrooms until it is safe to release them to the car line.
Parents who park and walk to pick up children may go to the classrooms to pick up their children; however, I would encourage parents to go to the classroom and wait until it is safe to walk their children to the car. However, we understand that families may have appointments, ball games to attend, or need to get to work, etc. HOWEVER, we will not dismiss students to walk out to the car line until it is safe for students and teachers to be out there.
