“Mary has chosen the better part…”  Luke 10:42

Lord, we make countless decisions everyday based on our priorities.  How we stack our priorities reveals what’s in our hearts.  Martha was a doer and probably a type “A” personality– a take charge kind of girl.  Mary was a type “B”; reflective, patient and not anxious.  Both were good people and both were doing good things.  You point out to Martha that the priority at the moment was to hear the word of God.  This was the time to let your words form their hearts.  This was the time to be filled with your love and peace.  Serving could come later.  Lord, I too keep busy and sometimes forget to be open to what you have to say to me.  I can be so overwhelmed by “doing” that I neglect “being”.  Lord, I want to listen first and be guided by you.  My heart must be filled with your love so I can go and serve and witness to that love.  Today may I be more attentive to your words.  May my work be fruitful because it reflects your will and not my own.  Help me today, Jesus, to choose the better part.  Amen.
