Matthew 15:21-28

“…Lord, help me.”  Mt 15:25

Lord, among the many things common to people of different cultures, races or religions is the love mothers have for their children.  This woman begged you to drive out the demon that was causing her daughter to suffer.  You tested her faith by your initial lack of response to her prayerful pleading.  You showed us all how much you value persevering in faith.  She was rewarded with a miracle healing of her child.  You also paid her a great honor when you said “O woman, great is your faith.”  A little earlier in the gospel you told Peter and the Apostles “O you of little faith.”  Lord, sometimes my faith is more like the Apostles in the boat on the stormy sea than the Canaanite woman.  I may become worried my prayers are not heard and give up while my faith is being tested.  Faith will grow stronger when it is exercised and challenged.  Lord Jesus, I lift up my children and family to your healing power.  I trust you hear me and will provide for them protection, healing and peace as I preserve in prayer.  Amen.
