1 Corinthians 15:12-20

Psalm 17

Luke 8:1-3

Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women… Lk. 8:1-2

Lord, it must have been great support for you to have devoted men and women walk with you while you preached and proclaimed the good news.  Town after town, you spread the gospel message while those with you were transformed. It must have been like a traveling retreat for them. Seeing your miracles, witnessing your compassion, and listening to your wisdom was a great privilege. You were way ahead of the times when you included women in your inner circle. You broke the “glass ceiling.” Your little band was the first parish. Today, I can travel with you as I reflect on your word each day. I can learn from you and be guided by your wisdom. You show me the right perspective on how to use the gifts you have given me. It is good to walk with you and all my brothers and sisters of faith as we work in our parish to live and spread the good news of God’s Kingdom.  May all the ministries of my parish work for one thing: doing your will in the world.  May your word bring us all closer to you, to each other and may we be open to all people who seek to be your disciples.  Amen.
