Deuteronomy 7:6-11

Psalm 103

1 John 4:7-16

Mathew 11:25-30

You are a people sacred to the Lord, your God.  Dt. 7:6

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.  Mt. 11:28

Lord, you know that our labors and burdens are many.  Some struggle with health, addiction, or constant pain. Single moms don’t have a moment of quiet for themselves. Unemployment and poverty are facts of life for many.  Still others are burdened with sin or live in the darkness of loneliness or fear. Lord, save us from being trapped in the darkness of despair. In your day people were burdened trying to follow the law as laid on them by the Scribes and Pharisees. I can’t earn your love. Lord, you care for me not as a reward for what I’ve accomplished. You offer rest from the burdens of life not because of what I’ve done but because of who you are. You can’t stop loving me even if I fail to love you. Dear Jesus give me the childlike trust that you are at my side every day. When life gets overwhelming and I want to give up take me by the hand and just love me. May I be confident that I never ever walk alone. Jesus meek and humble of heart make my heart like unto yours.  Amen.
