Psalm 34

John 7:1-2, 10, 25-30

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted…Psalm 34:19

Lord, you know very well that all of us have our hearts broken at some time or another.  It could be betrayal by a good friend, the loss of a job, or a failure to mend a relationship. At times like that we can feel alone and very unhappy over the situation. We can think no one understands us so we suffer the heartbreak alone. Our Psalm today is very clear that we never are alone even in our darkest hour. You understand our most private struggles and disappointments.  You know firsthand about rejection because you became one of us and suffered a broken heart many times because of the refusal of your children to believe in your word that you had been sent by their Father to save them from their sins. The very people who turned away from you would nail you to a cross thinking they were doing the right thing. Lord, help me to be aware of your constant presence. Show me the path to live out your word and to be a just person in all my relationships.  Thank you Lord for understanding me when no one else does.  Deliver me from anything that comes between us and help me to trust in your constant mercy and love.  Amen.
