March 26, 2020 Thursday of the 4th Week in Lent-A

Exodus 32:7-14

Psalm 106

John 5:31-47

“They have turned aside from the way I pointed out to them, making for themselves a molten calf and worshiping it…”  Exodus 32:8

They forgot the God who saved them, who did great deeds in Egypt.  Ps. 106:21

Lord, how soon the children of Israel forgot what God had done for them.  If God had not led them through the Red Sea and fed them in the desert they would have died and never reached the Promised Land.  Are we not sometimes like these people?  Isn’t it easy to forget all that God has done for us?  Why do we complain when things don’t go our way or whine when we don’t understand the ways of the Almighty?  We even turn to idols that cannot save us just as the Israelites did. Lord, during this Lent help me to become more aware of how you provide for me each day.  I thank you for every beat of my heart and every breath I take.  May I never turn to any false Gods that cannot do anything other than temporary amusement or entertainment?  I will open my heart to your word and be always grateful for the graces of your sacraments. Show me the path to greater awareness of how you fulfill all your promises and continue to perform great deeds in our land today. Praise and honor to you, Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen.
