Jesus as Prophet Icon

Prophet-Evangelization“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:19-20). These final words spoken by Christ to His Apostles constitute the heart of the Church’s enthusiasm to bring all people to the truth of the Gospel. Every human person has the right to hear and experience the mercy and love of God. “Hence the mission of evangelization, a continuation of the work desired by the Lord Jesus, is necessary for the Church: it cannot be overlooked; it is an expression of her very nature.”1 Thus, “all the baptized, whatever their position in the Church or their level of instruction in the faith, are agents of evangelization”; we are all missionary disciples.2 Through the Holy Spirit’s gift of zeal, St. Mary Catholic Church & School will be a prophetic people seeking always and everywhere to share the joy of the Gospel through a personal witness of Christ’s merciful love as “spirit-filled evangelizers.”3
